Darrell Thomas Esgar

Darrell's story:

Darrell was born Sept 28, 1967 in Long Beach California, His life taken from him 19 Aug. 1990 in Tustin California

In this time he grew up in southern California developing his fathers love of cars and mechanical ability. He was somewhat of an outcast in high school because sports were not on his list of things that were important.

At the age of 16 he wasn't about to work in a fast food place so his parents bought a 1968 mustang with a broken block. He and his dad put the engine together on the garage floor of their home. No sooner then the engine was running Darrell went to work for the machine shop that had done some work for them.

Around his 17 birthday the 1974 mustang was purchased as a carrot to get him to finish his eagle project for the scout eagle rank. Ever time he gave up on the eagle project his parents threaten to sale the car. One day the question was asked "If I earn my eagle award will you still threaten top sell the car?" The answer was "No, but it might be grounded." Shortly there after he earned the award.

From there he worked for a fast auto oil and lube place. His next and last job was with Super shops, a store that sold high performance automotive equipment. Within a year he was promoted to assistant manager and transferred to the Tustin store. A short time later an ex-employee robbed the store killing the three employees to keep them from identifying him.

Darrell never got to drive the mustang with the SVO engine in it but his parents and some of his friends have and we know he would have also have enjoyed it.
