1974 mustang Mach I
The Car's story:
The first owner of the car was a 16-year-old who was so proud of her car that she would not let her parents drive it.
After she entered collage Darrell's parents bought the car as a carrot to get him to finish his eagle
project and earn the scout eagle rank.
This car was not going to stay stock / original!
- All red tail lights from extra mustang II taillights.
- Stock rear spoiler from a later model Mustang II.
- Swing out rear side windows from a later model Mustang II.
- After market front air dam.
- 14 inch Enkei (honeycomb insert) wheels.
- Special manifold and holly four-barrel carburetor
- The V6 was rebuilt and an Iskenderian cam added.
Unfortunately one night the fan ate the fan shroud and a head gasket blown. Shortly after the car was back on the road Darrell
wrecked his 1984 SVO mustang. The insurance company would not give him the radio out of the wreck so he bought the complete car,
from them, with the intent of putting the running gear in the 1974 mustang.
The engine was installed in the car using the SVO mounts and wiring. After much checking and circuit testing, a battery
setting on the garage floor was connected via jumper cables; the engine was started and ran long enough to warm the water.
Disaster struck. (See Darrell’s story)
After some time Darrell's dad finished the work needed to pass the California SMOG tests and make the car street able.
